Aston Villa won their second F.A.Cup final by defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the first-ever final at the Crystal Palace before 42,000 spectators. The only goal of the game was scored by Bob Chatt and he scored it just 39 seconds into the final.
Robert F.Chatt was born at Barnard Castle in August 1870 and joined Aston Villa in August 1893 from Middlesbrough Ironopolis and he played 94 times for Villa scoring 26 goals before joining Stockton in June 1898. Thereafter there were periods with South Shields, Willington Athletic and Manchester City as trainer.
