This is possibly a variation of the Bezoar of ambergris stone, a solid concretion found in the alimentary organs of certain ruminant animals including whales, and formerly supposed to have curative powers, particularly against poisoning. The whole stone was worn as an amulet, and became popular in Europe from the thirteenth to the 17th century. A reference to 'Eagle stone' can be found in Dame Joan Evans' book, "Magical Jewels of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance Particularly in England(pub. 1922) in which she records that "in 1322 in the possession of the Earl of Hereford and his wife was a peres de egle".
