Thomas Allan Muirhead was born in Cowdenbeath on 31st January 1897 and joined Rangers in May of 1917 for the princely sum of (20. In the mid 1920s he had a brief period as player/manager of Boston F.C. in the U.S.A. but it was with the Light Blues that he won numerous honours in the famous side of the 1920s; eight League Championships and two Scottish Cup runners-up medals in 1922 and 1929. He played a total of eight times for Scotland at full International level and also made six appearances for the Scottish League. He retired in 1920 and became a sports journalist, coming out of retirement to manage St. Johnstone and Preston North End.
