Bobby Flavell was born in Annathill, Lanarkshire on 1st September 1921 and started his career with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy before joining Airdrie in 1940. During W.W.II he was a guest player for Brentford, Arsenal and Tottnham Hotspur and in December 1947 he joined Heart of Midlothian. In 1950 he joined Millionerios F.C. Bogata, only to return to Scotland in September 1951 when he joined Dundee. Thereafter he joined Kilmarnock in 1955 and St. Mirren in July 1956. He became manager of Ayr United in November 1961, remaining with the club for only seventeen days before signing for St. Mirren in the same post. Flavell made two full International appearances for Scotland and two for the Scottish Football League. Whilst with Dundee he won the Scottish League Cup in 1952 and 1953 and was a Scottish Cup runner-up in 1952.
