The two symmetrically rendered attendants on the rockwork base are an exceptional feature. The folds of the robes are rendered in a highly stylized manner, cf. a 9th century bronze figure of Vairocana formerly in the Samuel Eilenberg Collection, U. von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, 1981, pl. 11G. The present piece, crisply executed and somewhat formalized, possibly represents a later revival, and a tentative later dating is therefore suggested.
