The back with low upper panel with shaped shelves at each end, single large drawer with original gilt bronze handle, two lower open side shelves, panelled back, the whole carved with fine whip-lash motifs

Lot Essay

The attribution of this piece to Hector Guimard has been confirmed by Alain Blondel and the lot is accompanied by a certificate to this effect dated October 1993.
This desk will be included in the catalogue raisonné of Guimard's work currently in preparation by Alain Blondel.
