A "CATHERINE THE GREAT" FOUNTAIN PEN, BY MONTBLANC The red resin fountain pen with openwork 18K gold decoration and beadwork, the cap enhanced by circular-cut rubies, with 18K gold nib engraved with the Russian double-headed eagle motif, 1997, 14.4 cm. long, in the original fitted Montblanc case with papers Signed Montblanc, no. 658/888 This pen was created in 1997 to celebrate Catherine the Great. Her affairs were legendary but her reading habits testify to philosophical curiosity and literary taste. At the age of 34 she proclaimed herself the new Tsarina and remained in power for over thirty years.
