Carved as a pair of blackamoors holding aloft a cylindrical dial within a beaded drum-shaped case surmounted by an eagle, the later striking movement signed on the backplate Blatter Berne on a naturalistic rockwork base and a later canted rectangular foliate-carved giltwood plinth
