A Chinese blue and white 'klapmuts' bowl, Kangxi mark and of the period
with rounded sides rising to the flattened everted rim, the exterior painted with four scenes of ladies, dignitaries and attendants in a terrace and a fenced garden with bamboo, pine and plantain amidst rockwork, with a floral trellis band below the rim, the well with five boys playing ball, the rim with cartouches enclosing peach, lotus, peony and prunus sprays reserved on a wan patterned trellis ground, underglaze blue six-character Kangxi mark -- 7 15/16in. (20.1cm.) diam.
