A Chinese gilt-bronze model of Buddha
Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th Century
seated in dhyanasana, wearing robes revealing his open chest, with tightly curled hair, serene facial expression and downcast eyes, his hands clasped together before him, incised mark to uinderside -- 4¾in. (12cm.) high, wooden carved and pierced stand, (drill hole to the reverse at the base of the robes, rubbing).
