A CHONTAL STONE MASK
Late Preclassic, ca. 300-100 B.C.
Of square shape with rounded chin, prototypical jutting cheeks within the wide facial plane, deeply pierced mouth and eyes under arched brows; in green and cream speckled stone, pierced twice on each side of the head.
