A CINNABAR LACQUER BOX AND HINGED COVER, 19TH CENTURY
of rectangular form, the cover depicting a pair of birds perched within and flying amongst a flowering prunus branch and large fruiting pomegranate sprays, each issuing from rockwork, with similar scenes embellishing the sides of the box, with twin metal handles and incised decoration to hinges and latch, the black lacquered interior with shallow inset tray -- 10¾in. (27.5cm.) wide.
