Dated 1902, green printed crown mark, indistinct gilt pattern no. and retailer's mark Pitkins & Brooks, Chicago, signed F.(rederick) N. Sutton.
Finely painted with a shoulder-length portrait of a brunette Bacchante with a wreath of grapevine adorning her hair, within a beaded gilt surround and seeded foliate star-shaped cartouche, the moulded-rocaille border pierced and enriched in gilt
