Japanese Festival dolls
The Hinamatsuri festival or Girl's Day announces spring and celebrates the imperial court with all it's splendor, elegance and dignity. On this day Japanese girls would receive dolls in imperial dress to make up a court of dolls according to hierarchy. The earliest record of Boy's Day, Tango-No-Sekku, is 730 A.D. This festival celebrates manly virtues like courage, persistence, combat skills, filial piety and respect for authority, portrayed in dolls representing folklore heroes. The dolls come in various sizes; the larger the doll, the more elaborate their outfit and accessories.
