George IV's coronation, which took place on 19 July 1821, was unquestionably the most lavish and grandest Coronation ever to have taken place in these isles. It was commemorated by Sir George Nayler's publication containing drawings by Wild, Stephanoff and others, of the various events and personages involved. (H. Roberts, 'Royal Thrones, 1760-1840', Furniture History, 1989, p. 68 & fig. 14, p. 82). The two Peers illustrated in the drawing in this lot are unidentified Barons.
