    A Copper-Red and Blue and white Porcelain Brush Rest in the form of Mount Geumgang
    Joseon dynasty (19th century)
    Modelled in a semicircle in the form of five steep peaks representing the sacred realm of Mount Geumgang that are in turn moulded in high relief with a frieze of auspicious animals and plants related to the Ten Signs of Long Life (Shipjaengseng), including, on the front, a crane, stag, dragon, bats and sacred fungus below clouds, and on the reverse with a crane, deer, monkey, bat and further fungus, the details of the animals picked out in underglaze copper-red, the mountaintops painted in underglaze cobalt, the whole save the flat unglazed foot finished with a glossy clear glaze; tiny air hole drilled into base
