Lot Essay

Ruggero Panerai was born in Florence in 1862 and died in Paris in 1923. He trained at the Accademia di Firenze and worked in the studio of Giovanni Fattori. Another fan by him, mounted on wooden sticks, painted with a man rounding up Camargue wild horses, circa 1880-1890 was exhibited in Ventagli Italiani, Florence, 1990, no. 119.
