A DOCCIA GOLD-MOUNTED OVAL CHINOISERIE SNUFF-BOX AND COVER
CIRCA 1750, HINGED MOUNT WITH FRENCH CUSTOMS 18 CARAT GOLD STANDARD MARK (IN USE 1847-1909)
Of oval slightly bombé form, each side painted with Oriental figures on terraces with shrubs and fences, within iron-red line rectangular cartouches with canted corners, flanked at the sides by flowerheads and bound corn stooks in the Kakiemon manner, each side of the hinged cover with similar chinoiserie panels flanked by flowerheads, the base with iron-red diaper ornament enclosing turquoise paterae (surface wear, principally to base and Orientals' hats)
