The Ming dynasty prototype of early fifteenth century date, painted with a broad flower scroll below related elements, is illustrated by J. Pope, Chinese Porcelains from the Ardebil Shrine, pl. 53, no. 29.447. A closely related Qianlong-marked vase with a more compressed body was sold in Hong Kong, 2 May 1995, lot 72.
