    Lot Essay

The modelling of the duck and the use of the amber 'skin' of the jade to highlight the carved texture, are very similar to another carving of a crane from the Qing court collection, illustrated in Jadeware (III), The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1995, pl. 80.
