The design on this bowl is based on a Kangxi prototype as seen on a smaller bowl included in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, Special Exhibition of K'ang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Ch'ien-lung Porcelain, 1986, Catalogue, no. 7; and another was sold in these rooms from an American Private Collection, September 21, 1995, lot 220.
A pair of bowls similar to the present example and with Qianlong marks in the Edward T. Chow Collection was illustrated by Chow and Drake, "Kuan-Yao and Min-Yao", Archives of the Chinese Art Society of America, XIII, 1959, pl. XVIII, fig. 3
