The blade hirazukuri, mitsumune, ko-itame hada with ji-nie, midare hamon of nie with sunagashi, tobiyaki and muneyaki, boshi obscured, a gomabashi horimono on the omote, a bonji on the ura, ubu nakago, 22.9cm., in its narrow ribbed aogai lacquer saya, the upper part with narrow red and aogai stripes, a gilt dragon menuki mounted as a kanamono on the saya, matching shibuichi mounts comprising kashira-koiguchi, kurikata and uragawara on a dogane, ko-kogai, kozuka and kojiri, each chiselled with gilt dragons over waves, the metal mekugi formed from two associated early gold dragon menuki of the Goto school, 19th century
