The coat-of-arms are as yet unidentified but probably South German or Swiss.
The borders of this tapestry are reminiscent of armorial Bruges tapestries of the mid-16th century (G. Delmarcel, Bruges et la Tapisserie, exhibition catalogue, Bruges, 1987, cats. 11 - 12, pp. 222 - 225). However, the quality of the weave may indicate that it was woven in an affiliated and smaller weaving centre.
