A FLEMISH VERDURE TAPESTRY
17th Century, possibly Oudenaarde
Woven in wools, depicting an extensive wooded landscape, to the centre with a stream with two cranes and a frog, to the left with a building and a peasant in a doorway, the background with two bridges, further buildings before an open landscape, within a scrolling foliate border and a blue outer slip, the blue outer slip to the lower edge later, the main field reduced in height
7 ft. 4 in. x 9 ft. 3 in. (223 cm. x 283 cm.)
