A FLINTLOCK INDIA PATTERN SERVICE MUSKET MARKED FOR THE MONMOUTH MILITIA, BY DURS EGG
Early 19th Century
with 39in barrel, plain rounded lock signed 'D.Egg', stocked to 4 7/8in behind the muzzle (wormed throughout), regulation brass mounts, including butt-plate inscribed '(M)Monmouth 110', the side-plate stamped '54', iron sling-swivels, and iron ramrod, Ordnance Storekeeper's stamp and Tower proof marks; together with socket-bayonet stamped by the maker 'Tho.Gill'.
