A FOUR-CASE LACQUER INRO
late edo period (19th century), signed kosai
Of oval shape, designed on each side in black, gold and silver takamaki-e with a Noh actor in a shaped panel of brownish-black lacquer applied with hirame, the sides gold lacquer and the interior cases nashiji; fitted with a coral bead ojime and a rounded-rectangular soft-metal netsuke in the form of a writing box with removable lid decorated with silver and gilded floral medallions
