A French silvered bronze and Limoges enamel mounted mignonnette carriage timepiece

The cariatides case with addorsed dolphin handle and cast with foliate scrolls and female masks, with conforming openwork cast rear door, signed on the base plate Cles Oudin 52 Palais Royal Paris 5396, the enamel side panels decorated against a crimson ground with classically draped female figures emblematic of Art and Music in white and pale shades, the conforming dial adorned with a figure of Cupid writing in the Book of Love and with doves flying overhead, with gilt Roman chapter ring and signature CHLES OUDIN Palais Royal PARIS, with gilt hands, the single barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement; with original brown leather travel case

Although numerous examples of this miniature cariatides case were made, examples with the addition of enamel panels are rare.
