A fully rigged and planked model of the 98-gun French flagship 'Le Soleil Royale' of circa 1669. -- 35 x 42in (89 x 106.5cm).
With bound masts, yards, standing and running rigging, full suit of stitched linen sails with reefing points and embroided standards and deck details including horses head figurehead, anchors with bound wooden stocks, catheads with sheaves and decorative hair rails, upper deck guns in carriages, companionways, ship's bell with canopy, two ship's boats with bottom boards and thwarts, gratings, stern lanterns stern and quarter galleries with extensive moulded decoration with male and female figures, horses head and coats of arms. Finished in varnish. Stand and case (glass missing).
