EARLY 19TH CENTURY, FRAMED IN THE 20TH CENTURY
The plaque engraved THE FIRST STONE OF THIS BUILDING DENOMINATED THE AUCTION MART, WAS PLACED BY THE RIGHT HONORABLE JOHN ANSLEY LORD MAYOR OF THIS CITY ON TUESDAY THE TWENTIETH DAY OF SEPTEMBER IN THE FORTY EIGHTH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF KING GEORGE THE THIRD, AND IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND EIGHT, further with directors below, mounted with coins to the border and further plate PLATE, COINS & MEDALS FOUND UNDER THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THE OLD AUCTION MART. JANY 1865.
