A George III ebonised and gilt-brass mounted striking bracket clock, circa 1770
The case with pineapple finials to the bell top, later central acorn finial, handles to the sides above arched glazed panels, with gilt brass mounts cast as caryatids trailing flowers to the front, the moulded base on brass bracket feet, with quarter frets to a brass-lined front door, the brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with date aperture and signed on a recessed silvered plaque Tho. Wilmer London, cut steel hands (later minute), subsidiary silvered strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar twin wire fusee movement now converted to anchor escapement, strike on bell, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls -- 24½in. (54.5cm.) high
