A George III gilt-lined inverted bell-shaped cup and cover on a gadrooned rising foot and with a moulded body band and rim and two leaf-capped double scroll handles, the gadrooned domed detachable cover with spiral-fluted finial, later-engraved with an armorial, crest and motto and also with interesting later inscription: I Give To Sir William Heathcote Of Hursley Park, Baronet, M.P., and Request His Acceptance of the Sum of #50 and It Is My Wish That He Will If He Thinks Fit So To Do Lay Out This Said Sum In the Purchase of a Cup or Tankard to Be Used From Time to Time at the Audit Dinner for the Hursley Estate at Which I have Been in the Habit of Presiding for Nearly Forty Years and At Which My Family Has Presided for Nearly One Hundred Years.
