    Of bowfronted rectangular form with scrolled padded arms and seat covered in yellow velvet above a fluted seatrail on the front and sides, on turned tapering fluted legs, traces of green decoration

    Lot Essay

    A set of three related green-painted window seats, with antique-fluted rails and scrolled ends carved with ribbon-guilloche, was supplied around 1770 for Harewood House, Yorkshire by Thomas Chippendale (d. 1779) (C. Gilbert, The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale, vol. II, London, 1978, fig. 393).
