A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1765
The hood with swan neck cresting, outset brass stop-fluted columns, glazed side panels, the breakarch trunk door with moulded frame, the plinth with later raised panel and stepped base with wavy apron (restorations), the 12in. brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring and date aperture, signed on a silvered plaque James Scholefield LONDON, pierced and blued steel hands, with silvered strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar movement now with dead beat escapement with jewelled pallets, brass crutch for pendulum now suspended from the backboard, with rack strike on bell; wood rod pendulum with brass cylindrical bob and silvered calibrated rating nut -- 93in. (236cm.) high
