A GEORGE III SILVER-MOUNTED CUT-GLASS PRESERVE-POT

The circular base with a lobed border below a gadrooned rim, engraved with a coat-of-arms, the diamond-cut glass jar with a silver-gilt mounted reeded and gadrooned rim, the conforming cover with a pineapple and foliage finial, marked under stand, and on rim, the finial apparently unmarked

The arms are those of Sebright for Sir John Sebright, 7th Bt. (1767-1846), who succeeded his father in 1794. He married Harriet (d.1726), daughter and heiress of Richard Crofts of West Harling, co. Norfolk, in 1793. He served as M.P. for Hertfordshire from 1807 until 1835.
