A George III swing-handled cake basket
of shaped oval form and on openwork shell and scroll feet, the beaded and spiral-fluted body with twelve panels alternatively-pierced with foliage and quatrefoils and with a gadroon, shell, bead and foliate border, the centre engraved with a crest, Edward Aldridge Junior & Senior, London, the marks partially-obliterated by the piercing, probably circa 1765 - 14½in. (37cm.), 30.75oz.
