A GEORGE IV BIRDSEYE-MAPLE CIRCULAR CENTRE TABLE
The tilt-top crossbanded in rosewood above a plain frieze, on a concave-sided spreading triparte support with down-scrolled feet, each with turned ebonised patera, with sunk brass-castors, stamped to the top of the support 'BURRY & WHITE' and inscribed in chalk '4 95', minor restorations
29 in. (73.5 cm.) high; 48 in. (123.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The form of the base of the table, relates to tables by Edward Holmes Baldock, one of which was supplied in 1840 to The Duke of Buccleuch, and was sold by the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, Dalkeith House, Scotland, in these Rooms, 1 April 1971, lot 43. It is now at Temple Newsam House, Leeds (see C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, London, 1978, vol. II, no. 395).
