The fine quality mahogany and reed-wrapped legs are typical of Gillows furniture around 1820. Patterns for related wash-stand tables, fitted with sunk wells and raised galleries, feature in the 1820's Estimate Sketch Books of Gillows of London and Lancaster preserved in the Westminster City Archives.
