Shaped oval and with a twisted wire border, the hinged cover incorporating a late 18th century spinach jade inset from a ruyi sceptre, carved with Buddhist emblems, set with a jadeite panel engraved in the Chinese taste with scrolls and lattice work, marked on back and on back of cover, the base further engraved 'OMAR RAMSDEN ET ALWYN CARR ME FECERUNT'
