The design, proportions and decoration of the present cabinet are typical of those produced in Braunschwieg in the middle of the 18th Century. Specially the doors inlaid with cartouche-shaped panels centred by ingraved ivory figures are characteristic of nearly all good cabinets produced in Braunschwieg during this period. A comperable cabinet is illsutrated in H. Kreisel/G.Himmelheber, Die Kunst des deutschen Möbels, Munich, 1970, vol. II, fig. 878.
