Oval and with bombé side. the hinged domed cover with pushpiece and detachable silver-gilt ring handle witn foliage calyx, with silver-gilt female and mask side handles, chased overall with bands of husks, strapwork and cording, the cover part-chased to simulate basketweave, later engraved beneath the base with presentation inscription, marked on base and cover

The inscription reads 'Helen Cecil Olive Plunket from her Godfather 1895'
Given to the Hon. Helen Cecil Olive Plunket (1895-1968), on the occasion of her christening. She was the eldest daughter of William, 5th Baron Plunkett of Newton (1864-1920) and married Major Arthur Rhodes (d.1947) in 1916.
