This pattern of tazza-bearing and pelt-draped figure of the wine-god Bacchus, symbolizing the Season of Autumn, features as a bas relief on Louis XIV furniture attributed to the celebrated ébeniste André-Charles Boulle (d. 1732) (see an armoire illustrated in T.A. Strange, French Interiors, Furniture, Decorations etc..., London, 1950, 3rd ed., p.149).
