The circular blue turquin marble top above a plain fireze with paterae, on scrolling legs with gilt ram's terminals, on a concave tripartite base and sunken caps and castors

Lot Essay

A table of related design was sold Christie's Amsterdam, sale 2646, 14 December 2004, lot 91 and another related table with similar bent supports, and ormolu ram's mask terminals stamped CHAPUIS, was sold Christie's Paris, 22 June 2004, lot 222.

Jean-Joseph Chapuis (1765-1864) established his first workshop in Brussels in 1798. In 1806 he was called to value French furniture at the Chateau de Laeken and thereafter supplied furniture for the Chateau himself.
