    Lot Essay

    The Foros was the private yacht of Tsar Nicholas II, which was docked at Sevastopol in the Crimea. The tsar sailed on the yacht while on holiday at Livadia Palace. Such brooches may have been given as souvenirs to important guests of the tsar.
