A good gilt-brass and silver Augsburg compass sundial,
Johann Martin in Augsburg, late 17th/early 18th Century
with hinged hour ring numbered 3-12-9, the outer ring with wheat sheaf decoration and with central stutt with rod gnomon, the latitude arc numbered 30-90°, the dial-plate with central compass basin delineated for four compass points (initialled) and magnetic north and hinged plump-bob support, the reverse with table of city latitudes and three support feet, in original gilt-tooled leather-covered, chamois-lined case
