Lot Essay

This Iranian bowl is inspired by a type of Abbasid opaque white glazed bowls produced in Basra, Iraq, itself copying Chinese examples. Unlike most examples where inscriptions are illegible, the word delight, or felicity (ghibta) can be read on our bowl.
