A green stone relief of Vishnu and Lakshmi
India, Rajasthan, 10th century
Both seated on a throne, dressed in long diaphanous dhotis, wearing multiple necklaces, bracelets, anklets and earrings, his hair arranged in a high headdress and hers in a chignon secured with a crown, he holding a chakra, conch and lotus bud with his arm around his consort, she seated in mirror pose to his left with her leg overlapping his, holding an opened lotus flower in her left hand, their pendent feet resting on lotuses held aloft by figures in adoration, backed by a lotus-flower halo, flanked by gods above and female attendants at the sides, with a winged Garuda kneeling with folded hands at their feet
