A GROUP OF GOLD JEWELRY, BY JEAN MAHIE
Jean Mahie started with the combination of talents of two people: Jean-Marie Mazard and his daughter-in-law Jacline Mazard. This collaboration began in 1969, when Jean-Marie Mazard sold his business to pursue his interest in goldsmithing, molding his disciplines to the talents of his daughter-in-law, Jacline, as a painter. Together, they have created unique, hand-crafted pieces of jewelry and sculptures often in 22 carat gold, finding inspiration in antiquity, especially Roman, Greek and Phoenician art. Their style and designs are expressive and spiritual with a primitive, and even sculptural quality to them. In 1971, they were able to exhibit at Van Cleef & Arpels, and later on Neiman Marcus became their exclusive distributor in the United States. After Jean-Marie Mazard's death, in October 1994, Jacline has continued creating beautiful, one of a kind jewelry and art pieces.
