The original drawing for this piece is recorded in the archive of the Wiener Werkstätte at the MAK in Vienna, Cat. Inv. No. 12058/26, WWMB Vol. 7, pp. 525/9 (see illustration opposite). The archive records that the service, of which this teapot formed a part, was made for Fritz Wärndorfer and that only one example was produced.
