representing the Zuni kachina, Chakwaina, standing on semi-circular feet, with straight legs and bent arms cut away from the torso, wearing traditional white kilt and "embroidered" sash, black body paint with hourglass motifs on the front and back, and black sack mask featuring crescent-shaped eyes and broad rectangular mouth, remnants of hide beard below, hide coiffure at back, string attachments

Collected by the present owner's grandfather, Rudi Blesh, who received this lot from Marcel Duchamp and Teeny Matisse. It had been gifted to them by Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning Ernst.
