The thistle-shaped octagonal body with convex lower band of repoussé foliate scrolls, the upper panels with stylized flowers alternately set with cabochon rubies and sapphires, the inside of the base enamelled in in blue with the name 'WLADIMIR' beneath the Imperial crown, marked under base

Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich (1847-1909) was the son of Alexander II. He married, in 1874, Princess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, known as Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna.
